Analyst Interactions with Vendors

Effective date: 1 May 2026 Applies to: All vendor engagements with Elev8 Group

Elev8 is committed to the independence and objectivity of its research and analysis. This commitment is not a positioning statement — it is an operational reality, enforced through the policies and boundaries set out in this document. This page clarifies how Elev8 analysts interact with vendors, what those interactions can and cannot be used for, and the principles that govern every engagement. It applies to all vendors regardless of client status.

How Elev8 Engages with Vendors

Elev8 engages with vendors in two distinct modes. These modes are separate. The rules governing each are different and non-interchangeable.

Mode 1
Evaluative Research
Elev8 evaluates vendors and their offerings through Articul8 — including Vendor Deep Dives, Vendor Landscapes, Market Overviews, and related research. This produces independent analysis for practitioner buyers. Inclusion and evaluation are driven entirely by end-user relevance and Elev8's research methodology. Client status has no bearing on evaluative outcomes.
Mode 2
Strategic Advice
Elev8 provides vendor clients with strategic advice on market positioning, go-to-market strategy, competitive dynamics, and buyer needs. This is delivered through Advisory Sprints, Executive Sessions, and related engagements. Strategic advice is confidential, commercially separate from evaluative research, and available to vendor clients only.

Evaluative Research

Articul8 evaluative content — including Vendor Deep Dives assessed using the Articul8 Hex-Model™, Vendor Landscapes using the Circle System™, Market Overviews, Competitive Profiles, and Market Signals — exists to help practitioner buyers make better decisions. The integrity of that content depends on a strict separation between evaluation and commercial influence.

Inclusion and evaluation criteria

Vendors are included in evaluative research based on criteria that reflect end-user needs in the relevant market. Elev8 determines these criteria independently. Vendors cannot request inclusion or exclusion from any evaluative content, and client status does not influence whether a vendor is included, how they are evaluated, or how they are positioned.

Vendor Briefings in the research process

Vendor Briefings — as defined in the Analyst Access & Engagement Policy — feed the evaluative research process and are open to all vendors regardless of client status. Briefings provide Elev8 with current, accurate information about a vendor's product, platform, and strategy. They are on the record and may be drawn upon in published research.

Information about in-progress or upcoming evaluative research — including market definitions, inclusion criteria, and evaluation methodology — is shared concurrently and consistently with all vendors involved in that research. Analysts may only discuss in-progress evaluative research through the communication channels defined by the methodology. This ensures all vendors are treated equally, regardless of commercial relationship.

Vendors may use Briefings to

  • Share current product capabilities, platform updates, and roadmap developments with Elev8.
  • Provide supporting evidence — customer case studies, market data, third-party validation — relevant to Elev8's research coverage.
  • Correct factual inaccuracies in previously published Elev8 research through the appropriate channel.
  • Engage with Elev8's research agenda as a tracked vendor in the relevant market category.

Vendors may not use Briefings to

  • Lobby for a specific position, score, or outcome in any Elev8 evaluative content.
  • Request information about how they were scored or positioned relative to competitors in any evaluation.
  • Seek guidance on actions to take to improve their position in any current or future Elev8 evaluation.
  • Discuss the details of any in-progress evaluation beyond the communication channels defined by the methodology.

Strategic Advice

Elev8 provides vendor clients with strategic advice through Advisory Sprints, Executive Sessions, and related engagements. This is a commercially separate service, available to clients only, and delivered under strict confidentiality. Strategic advice helps vendor clients navigate market positioning, competitive dynamics, buyer needs, and go-to-market decisions.

What strategic advice covers

Valid topics for strategic advisory sessions include

  • How the vendor's capabilities compare with competitors across the broader market from a buyer's perspective.
  • How the vendor's current positioning aligns with end-user buyer needs and decision criteria.
  • Go-to-market strategy, messaging effectiveness, and routes to specific buyer segments.
  • Market trends, category dynamics, and how they affect the vendor's competitive position.
  • How the vendor's strategy and roadmap resonate with the priorities Elev8 observes across its practitioner audience.
  • Business and commercial challenges specific to the vendor's market context.
What strategic advice does not cover

Strategic advisory sessions may not be used to

  • Discuss, influence, or seek information about any in-progress Articul8 evaluation, including its methodology, criteria, or outcomes.
  • Ask analysts to disclose how a vendor was scored, positioned, or assessed in any Elev8 evaluative content.
  • Brief an analyst on product strategy or capabilities as a substitute for a formal Vendor Briefing.
  • Request feedback on briefing materials, presentations, or content intended for use in an evaluative process.
  • Seek a SWOT assessment — Elev8 analysts do not produce or deliver SWOT deliverables in any session format.
  • Receive advice on how to improve a vendor's position or score in any current or future Elev8 evaluative content.

All strategic advisory engagements are confidential. Elev8 analysts will not disclose information shared in confidence by one vendor client to any other party, including other vendor clients or practitioner clients.

The Evaluation Closed Period

When an Articul8 evaluation is in progress, a closed period applies. The closed period spans the month of publication and the two preceding months — three months in total.

During the closed period:

Elev8 analysts may not

  • Conduct Advisory Sprints, Executive Sessions, or any other direct advisory engagement with a vendor client who is included in that evaluation.
  • Discuss any aspect of the in-progress evaluation — including its scope, findings, or timeline — with any vendor client, in any format or channel.

During the closed period, vendors may still

  • Submit a formal Vendor Briefing through the standard process — Briefings are not subject to the closed period restriction.
  • Schedule advisory sessions to take place after the closed period has ended, subject to analyst availability.
  • Contact Elev8 regarding factual matters or administrative questions unrelated to the evaluation in progress.
The closed period is non-negotiable. Client status, existing advisory relationships, and commercial arrangements do not create exceptions to the closed period policy. This boundary exists to protect the objectivity of every evaluation Elev8 publishes.

Guiding Principles

Every interaction between Elev8 analysts and vendors — regardless of format or commercial relationship — is governed by four principles.

01
Independence is non-negotiable
No commercial relationship influences Elev8's evaluative conclusions. This applies to all vendors — clients and non-clients alike. Elev8's value to practitioner buyers depends on it.
02
All vendors are treated equally
In evaluative research, every vendor is assessed against the same criteria, through the same methodology. Client status does not create advantages, accelerated timelines, or preferential treatment in any evaluation.
03
Evaluative and advisory are separate
The two modes of vendor engagement are structurally and operationally separate. Information exchanged in one mode is not carried into the other. Advisory sessions inform strategy — they do not influence evaluations.
04
Confidentiality is absolute
Information shared in confidence during any advisory session remains confidential. Elev8 analysts will never share one vendor's confidential information with another party — client or otherwise.

Frequently Asked Questions

The following questions reflect the most common enquiries Elev8 receives from vendor AR, marketing, and executive teams about how analyst interactions work in practice.

Evaluative Research
Q Can Elev8 analysts advise us on how to improve our position or score in the Articul8 Hex-Model™ or any other evaluative content?
A No. Elev8 analysts cannot provide guidance — in any format or session type — on actions a vendor can take to improve its position, score, or inclusion in any Articul8 evaluative content. This boundary exists to protect the objectivity of Elev8's research and the trust of its practitioner audience.
Q Does being an Elev8 client give us any advantage in Articul8 evaluations?
A No. Client status has no bearing on inclusion, evaluation, or positioning in any Articul8 research. All vendors included in evaluative content are assessed against the same criteria using the same methodology. The only factor that determines evaluative outcomes is performance against criteria that reflect end-user buyer needs.
Q Can we request to be included in — or excluded from — an Articul8 evaluation?
A No. Inclusion in Articul8 evaluative research is determined entirely by Elev8 based on end-user market relevance and methodology criteria. Vendors cannot request inclusion or exclusion. If you believe your organisation meets the inclusion criteria for a relevant evaluation, the appropriate route is to ensure Elev8 is fully informed of your capabilities through a formal Vendor Briefing.
Q Can we use a Vendor Briefing to discuss how we performed in a previous Articul8 evaluation?
A No. Vendor Briefings are for informing Elev8 about your current capabilities, strategy, and market position — not for reviewing or contesting published evaluative findings. If you have a factual correction to submit regarding published content, contact Elev8 directly through the appropriate channel. Factual corrections are assessed independently of any briefing or advisory session.
Strategic Advisory
Q As an Elev8 client, can we use an Advisory Sprint or Executive Session to update the analyst on our product roadmap and new capabilities?
A Only in context. You may share roadmap or capability information within an advisory session to provide context for a strategic question — for example, to receive advice on whether something is missing from your roadmap or how a new capability might be positioned to buyers. The purpose of the session must be to receive strategic advice, not to brief the analyst. If your primary goal is to update Elev8 on your product, a formal Vendor Briefing is the right format.
Q As an Elev8 client, can we use an advisory session to discuss our Articul8 Hex-Model™ score or Circle System™ position?
A No. Elev8 analysts cannot disclose proprietary scoring details, specific evaluation criteria weightings, or comparative data on other vendors in any advisory session. Advisory sessions are for strategic advice on your business challenges — not for reviewing, contesting, or seeking to influence evaluative outcomes. This boundary applies regardless of client tier.
Q Can we use an advisory session to discuss an Articul8 evaluation that is currently in progress?
A No. Elev8 analysts may only discuss in-progress evaluative research within the communication channels defined by the research methodology — not in advisory sessions. This applies during and outside the formal closed period. It ensures all vendors are treated consistently and that advisory access does not create an informational advantage in any evaluation.
Q Can we use an advisory session to get feedback on our briefing presentation or the materials we plan to submit to Elev8?
A No. Elev8 analysts cannot review or provide feedback on materials intended for use in a Vendor Briefing or evaluative process. This boundary is firm — it protects the consistency and fairness of how all vendors are evaluated. Within an advisory session, analysts may offer perspective on how your broader messaging and positioning resonates with buyer audiences — but not on briefing materials specifically.
The Closed Period
Q Can we schedule an advisory session with an Elev8 analyst during an active Articul8 evaluation in which we are included?
A Not during the closed period. The closed period spans the three months prior to and including publication. During this window, advisory sessions with vendor clients included in the evaluation cannot be scheduled or conducted. Outside the closed period, advisory sessions can proceed as normal subject to analyst availability and in accordance with this guidance. Vendor Briefings are not subject to the closed period restriction.
Q How will we know when the closed period applies to us?
A Elev8 will notify vendors included in an active evaluation when the closed period begins. If you are uncertain whether a closed period is in effect for a specific evaluation, contact Elev8 before scheduling an advisory session. Requesting confirmation is always the right approach.

Research Independence Statement

Elev8's evaluative research is independent of all commercial relationships. No briefing, advisory engagement, paid service, or vendor arrangement influences the analytical conclusions, scores, or positioning decisions in any Articul8 publication. Vendors who engage with Elev8 commercially — through Advisory Sprints, Executive Sessions, or other services — receive no advantage in evaluative research outcomes. This independence is the foundation of the credibility that makes Elev8 research worth engaging with.
